Flau'jae Johnson now has a new way to spend the WNBA offseason — the Seattle Storm star has signed a multiyear deal with Unrivaled.
The women's three-on-three basketball league (which runs for nine weeks in January through March, and thus doesn’t conflict with the WNBA’s May-through-October schedule) made the announcement on Monday. Johnson has worked with Unrivaled since 2024, when she signed an NIL deal with the league, becoming one of the first two players to do so.
Her relationship with Unrivaled grew last year when she participated in the Future is Unrivaled initiative, in which she trained alongside the next generation of women’s basketball players.
“From signing one of the first NIL deals with Unrivaled to now joining the league as a player, it's been incredible to see this journey come full circle. The level of competition, the attention the league generated, and the way it helped shine a spotlight on the game's biggest stars showed what's possible when athletes are given a platform built for them,” the 22-year-old said in a statement.
“Having been part of the Unrivaled family through its NIL program, I've had a front-row seat to that growth, and it's exciting to now officially join as a player. I'm excited to keep growing as a pro, compete against the best, and bring my game, my personality, and everything I represent to the league next season.”
Johnson was a standout starter for Louisiana State University. In this year’s WNBA draft, she was selected as the No. 8 pick by the Golden State Valkyries before she was traded to the Seattle Storm.
