Flau’jae Johnson doesn’t consider herself a “nepo baby” despite her late father’s status as a rapper during his life.

Reginae Carter, daughter of Lil Wayne and his ex-wife Toya Johnson-Rushing, sat down with Johnson on the Thursday (Feb. 5) episode of podcast Heir Time, where she was asked about whether the title of “nepo baby” fits her. The term refers to celebrities or public figures who are in the limelight partly due to the status of their parents or ancestors.

Johnson’s father, Jason Johnson, was known as Georgia rapper Camouflage and was slain in 2003 at 21 years old, just months before his daughter was born.

“Do I see myself as a Nepo baby? No. Because I feel like my dad, like, him dying before I was born kind of like halted the doors that I could have stepped in easily if he was like, ‘Yo, this is my daughter. She raps,’” Flau’jae Johnson, now 22, explained around the 42-minute mark in the video below.

Johnson went on to say that she admires the benefits that some nepo babies receive. She pointed to Bronny, the oldest child of LeBron James, and her own younger brothers, who flex their relation to the Louisiana State University player.

Elsewhere, Johnson said she’ll “never be able to fully fill” the shoes of her late father or understand who he was.

“‘So, represent him, but just know that you're building this for yourself, as well,’” Johnson recalled her mother telling her. “The rapping and basketball kind of became my legacy, but I want to be an iconic mogul.”

Johnson previously credited Boosie BadAzz as an artist who stepped in to look after her after her father’s passing and said she considers the rapper her “uncle.”
