Odell Beckham Jr.’s long-discussed return to the New York Giants just got more real.
After weeks of openly talking about a reunion, Beckham took a major step toward making it happen on Monday, April 20, when he reportedly met with the Giants for a workout and physical.
According to The New York Times, the visit brought the franchise and its former superstar receiver closer than they have been since his exit following the 2018 season.
Beckham had already made it clear that New York was where he wanted to be. During an appearance at the Fanatics Flag Football Classic in March, the 33-year-old lit up when asked about the possibility of playing for the Giants again alongside quarterback Jaxson Dart.
“Weird you said that; that sounds great,” Beckham said at the time. “If that opportunity presents itself, I would love to do that.”
OBJ spent the first five years of his career with the Giants after being selected with the No. 12 pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. He immediately became one of the league’s biggest stars, winning Offensive Rookie of the Year and making three Pro Bowls in New York.
His run with the Giants also produced one of the most recognizable moments in modern NFL history: the one-handed catch against Dallas that transformed Beckham from rising receiver into a cultural phenomenon overnight.
Since leaving New York, Beckham’s career has been far less predictable. He was traded to Cleveland after the 2018 season, then suffered a torn ACL in 2020. After being released by the Browns, he revived his career with the Los Angeles Rams and caught a touchdown in Super Bowl LVI before another ACL tear ended his night early.
He sat out the 2022 season recovering, signed with the Baltimore Ravens in 2023, then joined the Miami Dolphins for 2024. That stint ended quietly, with Beckham recording just nine catches for 55 yards before Miami released him in December.
He remained unsigned throughout 2025 and later served a six-game suspension for violating the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing drugs.
Still, there have been signs that a Giants reunion never completely left the table. Current Giants head coach John Harbaugh, who coached Beckham in Baltimore, acknowledged last month that the two have remained in contact.
“He and I do talk. We do text,” Harbaugh said at the NFL owners’ meetings. “We maintain a really great relationship. He’s one of my favorite people in the world.”
