Dak Prescott and Sarah Jane Ramos are now trying to work out custody arrangements for their two daughters after the quarterback filed legal paperwork in Texas less than three weeks after their split became public.
According to court filings obtained by Page Six, Prescott filed a Suit Affecting the Parent-Child Relationship on March 17 in Collin County, where the former couple lives. The filing asks that both Prescott and Ramos be named joint managing conservators of their daughters, Margaret Jane Rose, 2, and Aurora Rayne, 10 months.
In the petition, Prescott argued that “it is in the best interest of the children” for both parents to share responsibility.
The filing initially set up a court hearing for April 2, but both sides have now agreed to postpone it while they try to reach a temporary arrangement privately. If they are unable to settle the matter, the case is scheduled to return to court on April 16.
“The parties are working together. My client’s very happy with the course that this matter is going,” Ramos’ attorney, Raymond Rafool, told Page Six.
Prescott’s attorney, Levi McCathern, struck a similar tone, saying, “The case is not resolved, but the parties have agreed to postpone the first hearing in an attempt to work out all of the various issues without court intervention.”
He added that Prescott “is an absolutely phenomenal father” and wants to build “a healthy co-parent relationship.”
The custody filing marks the latest chapter in what has become an increasingly public breakup. Prescott and Ramos had been scheduled to marry on April 10 in Lake Como, Italy, before the wedding was abruptly canceled last month.
In the weeks since, multiple reports have offered competing explanations for what happened. Early statements from Ramos’ camp described the breakup as mutual and said there had been “no big argument or blow up.”
Ramos had given Prescott what was described as a monogamy ultimatum in January before ultimately deciding she was “done” with the romantic side of the relationship.
Prescott has not spoken publicly about the allegations.
