Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy has indicated that he’s willing to fire Patrick Beverley following his arrest on a felony assault charge.

On a recent episode of The Unnamed Show, Portnoy addressed Pat Bev’s arrest because the former NBA star has a podcast with Barstool called Hoopin’ N Hollerin’. Portnoy said the police report on the incident was “obviously horrific,” and explained his stance on it. “That’s his life, and he’s got to figure all this out,” he said around the 23-minute mark of the podcast, seen below. “It’s horrible. He is taking time, forced time, away from Barstool.”

Porrtnoy explained that he’s not willing to make a definitive statement on Beverley and wants to see how the situation pans out before any action is taken.

“We’ll see if this turns out somehow not true; we’ll let the facts play out,” he continued. “Certainly, with what is hanging there, we can’t have him be part of what we’re doing right now, and we got to see how it settles, but this is horrible. If there’s any truth to it, he won’t be back at Barstool. … There’s no reason on my end to move unusually quick here. It’s a very serious issue.”

He also shared that there was going to be an episode of Hoopin’ N Hollerin’ in which Beverley addressed the incident, but it was pulled after more details were released.

“Before the police report came out, he was still going to do the pod. We had his version of events. Police report comes out. Brutal,” said Portnoy. “Call him, ‘Hey, just saw this police report. We can’t be working with you right now. Figure out your life. Figure out whatever is going on in here, and we will regroup when there’s a resolution on whatever the fuck this is. That’s kind of where we left it. He got it.”

He stressed that Beverley won’t be back on any Barstool-produced content until a resolution has been reached.

Last week, Patrick Beverley was arrested for third-degree felony assault and was later released on $40,000 bail. Further details in the case indicated that Beverley was arrested after he found his teenage sister alone with an 18-year-old man.

The police report that followed included some heavier details about the incident. According to the report, Beverley grabbed his sister “by the neck with both hands” and picked her up “off the ground.” He allegedly choked her for as long as 30 seconds, “slammed” her against a wall, and punched her in the eye.

Beverley's attorney, Letitia Quinones-Hollins, denied the accusations in a statement released on his behalf. "Patrick is not a violent man and was not violent that night. In fact, he was very respectful with the authorities that night and encouraged others to do the same," Quinones-Hollins said. “He has always looked out for their wellbeing and will continue to do so. I have every expectation that when all the facts are in, Patrick will be cleared of these charges.”
