On Friday night, Beverley's attorney Letitia Quinones-Hollins issued a statement to multiple outlets. Read it below:
"Patrick Beverley has no criminal record. He cares deeply about his little sister – a young lady, a minor. Given that, when he unexpectedly found her alone in the home with an 18-year-old man in the middle of the night, he was understandably concerned, as any brother would be about his sister. However, we don’t believe what followed happened the way it’s been described and we look forward to the opportunity to address that in court."

Former NBA player Patrick Beverley has reportedly been arrested for third-degree felony assault.
TMZ reports that Beverley was taken into custody in Richmond, Texas, by the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office. He has reportedly been charged with Assault on a Family Member/Household Member Impeding Breath or Circulation. His bail, which he posted, was set at $40,000. According to the Sheriff's Office online records, Beverley is no longer listed as being in custody as of this writing.
Complex has reached out to the Sheriff's Office for more information, but they haven't immediately responded.
Beverley is a well-known professional basketball player and podcaster, who’s previously played for the Bucks, Rockets, Timberwolves, Lakers, Bulls, and more. Drafted in the second round of the 2009 NBA Draft, Beverley became known for his hard style of defense played in the NBA, which won him NBA All-Defensive Team honors in his first year in the league.
Aside from his arrest, Beverley has been making headlines due to Klay Thompson’s reaction to comments made about Megan Thee Stallion on the Hoopin’ N Hollerin’ podcast.
On the show, Beverley and Jason Williams blamed a decline in Thompson’s performance on the basketball court on his relationship with Megan Thee Stallion.
"It only takes one pussy to drag a battleship across a desert. That's how powerful it is," said Williams in an episode. "I ain't saying that's what it is, but that might be what it is."
"And that ain't taking away nothing from Megan Thee Stallion. She might be a great girl. You know what I'm saying? Great for him. But I don't know if she's great for the shot,” Williams added.
Beverley hopped in, saying, “Cause that motherfucker is short.”
Thompson responded to their conversation on Instagram, writing, "Referring to my GF as a 'p***y' is so disgusting and disturbing. Especially from someone who played in the NBA . How would yall feel if I referred to your wives in such a way ? @patbev21. Do better fellas . Very disappointing."
