Zohran Mamdani is drawing attention for a reason that has nothing to do with any of his policies — instead, it's tied to his music taste.

According to an X post shared by a DJ (@ThankYouEddin) on Tuesday (June 23), New York City's mayor requested that the song "Watagatapitusberry" by Pitbull, Lil Jon, and TJR be played at the popular Locksmith bar, which he's know to frequent.

"I was terrified that I didn't have whatever he was gonna say," the DJ said, before adding that "Life is interesting."

In a video doing the rounds online, Mamdani appears to say: "We’ve gotta play this song for old time’s sake. Just bear with me." After the song comes on, everybody in the bar starts cheering and dancing.

Check out footage of the moment below:

"Watagatapitusberry" is one of the most popular party tracks of the 2010s. It maintains a constant presence in party playlists and DJ sets, so it makes sense that Mamdani would want to listen to the 16-year-old song.

This isn't the first time Mamdani has been spotted in recent days jamming to popular tracks of the past. At the New York Knicks championship parade last week, the mayor was captured dancing his heart out to Terror Squad’s "Lean Back," which was performed by Fat Joe and Remy Ma.

Joining him for the dance was Knicks player Karl-Anthony Towns, who was standing nearby.
