In the wake of her split with Pete Davidson, Elsie Hewitt is admitting that she’s “exhausted” from parenting on her own.
The actress was photographed by paparazzi on Friday (May 15) as she walked around New York City, pushing a stroller while wearing an oversized hoodie. She and Davidson welcomed a daughter in December.
Social media users commented on her appearance, and Hewitt addressed the reactions in a TikTok video.
"Yeah, yeah, I know. I'm exhausted, OK?" Hewitt said. "After I left the house looking like it yesterday, I should've known that was gonna happen. But that's not what I'm thinking about right now."
"I have a baby to take care of, and I also have to work and make money,” she continued, her voice cracking with emotion.
"I'm doing it on my own," she said, "which is hard."
Hewitt concluded the TikTok by referencing the negative comments about her appearance again.
“Noted,” she said. “Next time, I will try to look nicer when I go on a walk with my daughter.”
The same day that she posted the TikTok, Hewitt announced that she was looking to hire someone to assist her with childcare.
In a now-expired post, the actress wrote on her Instagram Story, "I'm currently trying to find an assistant/mother's helper/nanny type—basically [a] right-hand person.”
News of Davidson and Hewitt’s split surfaced on Thursday (May 14), with sources alleging that the comedian’s busy work schedule caused friction between them that led to the breakup.
“Pete has been traveling so much for work, but Elsie was craving more support from him at home after their daughter was born,” said an insider, according to The Sun. “It was very hard for him because, obviously, he has to work to make money.”
People later reported that the two are “working on things” together, according to an unnamed source.
“There have been points where they've split and have gotten back together,” the source added, saying that it’s unclear if they’ll reunite again.
