A Twitch streamer’s channel is now listed as “temporarily unavailable” after dog abuse allegations, and PETA is speaking out. In a clip from a recent stream making the rounds on X and Reddit, the streamer in question, Aspen Kartier, is seen remarking “How you get out the cage?” to a dog.
The footage then includes sounds of the same dog seemingly yelping while the streamer is seen making what appear to be striking motions with her hands. Loud bangs are also heard in the background, all while the dog remains out of view of the camera.
Eventually, the streamer is seen grabbing the dog by the back and carrying them out of the room.
Criticism was swift and widespread, with many calling for the streamer to be permanently banned from the platform.
While social media claims have surfaced stating that the streamer’s account has been outright banned, that wasn’t entirely clear as of this writing.
“This channel is temporarily unavailable due to a violation of Twitch's Community Guidelines or Terms of Service,” reads a message displayed on the channel’s landing page on Friday (Jan. 30).
Complex has reached out to Twitch reps for comment. This story may be updated.
Following the clip mentioned above, an Instagram Stories update shared to an account seemingly associated with Kartier featured what appears to be the same dog.
“Tell ‘em that you’re fine,” a voice, presumably Kartier’s, is heard saying. “Tell ‘em right now. I’m not playing. … You’re fine. You’re fine and you’re for sale.”
Meanwhile, a TikTok video showed the dog having money thrown on their face, but has since been taken down.
Yet another clip, seen below, featured the streamer responding to the widespread criticism with an apparent denial of the animal abuse claims.
“Bro, I didn’t beat [the dog] up on stream,” she said.
When reached for comment by Complex, a PETA spokesperson said that Twitch “was right” to take action on Kartier’s account, though the extent of that action remains unclear for now.
“People are rightly horrified by the video in which Aspen Kartier raises her arm several times and appears to strike her dog as he wails, before moving off camera while the sounds of the dog’s distress continue,” a PETA rep told Complex. “Anyone who would beat and terrify their dog should never go near one. Twitch was right to suspend this account. Now we urge authorities to immediately investigate, prosecute if appropriate, and, hopefully, seize this dog so that nothing like this ever happens again and the dog gets a chance at a loving home.”
