IShowSpeed, previously praised as “the new [Andrei] Tarkovsky” by Harmony Korine, will take on an animated form in a new series co-produced by the Kids and Spring Breakers filmmaker.

That’s the word from Variety’s Todd Spangler, who reported on Wednesday (April 8) that Speed will voice an “animated character” version of himself in a series for Big Shot Pictures. The series is described as being an “anime-style” production, though specifics about the plot remain a secret.

Tapped to write the series is Matt Owens, a name that should be familiar to One Piece fans. Owens, who is also producing the Speed-led series alongside Korine and Big Shot’s Brian Robbins, was a showrunner on the Netflix adaptation of that manga title for its first two seasons.

Complex has reached out to reps for Big Shot for comment. This story may be updated.

In a statement shared with Variety on Wednesday, Speed pointed to his lifelong love of anime as crucial to the dreamlike quality of having landed a project like this.

“I’ve always loved anime, so being able to create something like this is a dream come true for me,” Speed said. “The team behind this project is incredibly talented, and I can’t wait for my fans around the world to see what we’re building together.”

Korine’s involvement is noteworthy, as he’s publicly shown support for Speed and other household names from the streaming space in recent years. Both Speed and fellow breakout streaming star Kai Cenat were praised by Korine back in 2024 as being akin to “a movie” on their own, as highlighted in an IndieWire report at the time.

For Speed, whose first WWE main roster match is going down soon, the latest expansion of his stardom comes after last year’s Speed Goes Pro series on YouTube featuring Kevin Durant and Tom Brady.
