Maude Apatow is remembering her late Euphoria co-star, Angus Cloud, as “just the best person to be around.”
For those keeping up with the Sam Levinson-created HBO hit’s long-awaited third season, Cloud’s character, Fezco, is currently behind bars, having recently been mentioned by way of a jail phone conversation with Rue (played by Zendaya). In the latest episode, a photo of Cloud as Fezco was seen as the wallpaper on Rue’s phone.
In a new interview with Carina Fischer for Who What Wear, Apatow, who plays Lexi in the series, was asked about Cloud, who died of a drug overdose in 2023 at the age of 25.
“Angus was just the best person to be around,” Apatow recalled. “He was so funny and full of life—such an energy all the time. We lost that when we lost him.”
In a previous statement, shared to Instagram in 2023, Apatow, pictured above with Cloud at a Golden Globes afterparty in 2020, remembered her former co-star as “the funniest person ever.” She added that he “made everyone around him so happy,” noting that words couldn’t do justice to “how magical of a person he was.”
Series creator Sam Levinson paid tribute to Cloud at Euphoria’s Season 3 premiere in Hollywood last month, telling Variety in a red carpet interview that his aim was to “keep him alive” in the show.
“I think he would love it,” Levinson added of what transpires in the “last few episodes” of the new season.
