Audiences couldn’t wait to bask in the nostalgia during the long-awaited Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary special. It was the ultimate stroll down memory lane, as Miley Cyrus placed her Hannah Montana wig back on for the first time in nearly two decades.
However, some fans felt the reunion special was lacking, noting that a few core members of the Disney Channel series were absent. Particularly, Emily Osment, who played a pivotal role on Hannah Montana.
Osment starred as Miley’s best friend on the TV show, earning significant screen time throughout the series’ run. Many fans are under the impression that the show wouldn’t be the same without Osment, and therefore, it was a major let-down that she didn’t make a single appearance at the Disney+ Hannah Montana Reunion.
While Osment herself spoke out on Instagram, noting that her absence was simply due to a scheduling conflict, many fans have fallen under the impression that this is a cover story to mask something deeper.
In fact, some fans are speculating that there is some lingering behind-the-scenes tension that led to Osment not appearing in the special.
One commenter speculated on the Popheads Subreddit, “She and Miley just didn’t get along well. It was always tense for them on set. They probably made up at this point though, so who knows?”
Another commenter expressed confusion with Osment not even making a quick cameo appearance, saying, “I really hope she at least FaceTime Emily for a second. Lola was like Miley's sister and appeared in almost every episode.”
It’s important to note that this is just fan speculation. As for Osment, she expressed nothing but gratitude for her time on the Disney series. "Hannah Montana changed my life,” the actress revealed in the caption of her recently uploaded Instagram video.
