Hannah Montana is back, and she’s got new surprises in store.
This year will mark 20 years since the premiere of Hannah Montana, the show that kickstarted Miley Cyrus’ music and acting career. To celebrate the occasion, Cyrus will participate in a television special looking back on the show. Ahead of the special, ABC and Disney shared a new teaser clip, featuring what sounded like a new version of the show’s theme song.
Fans of Hannah Montana can recite its theme song, “Best of Both Worlds,” from memory. And some fans noticed that the song sounded different in the most recent teaser from the 20th anniversary special. The Grammy winner’s voice sounds noticeably mature, and she is singing the song in a different key.
In addition to music, the Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special will see Cyrus revisit the show’s iconic set. She will also share stories in an interview facilitated by Call Her Daddy podcast host Alex Cooper.
Fans can also expect appearances from Cyrus’ dad, Billy Ray — who played her dad Robby Ray on the show — as well as her mother, Tish. While none of the other castmates have been confirmed, Cyrus has teased several “surprises” which will unfold during the special.
‘“Hannah Montana’ will always be a part of who I am. What started as a TV show became a shared experience that shaped my life and the lives of so many fans, and I’ll always be thankful for that connection,” said Cyrus in a statement. “The fact that it still means so much to people all these years later is something I’m very proud of. This ‘Hannahversary’ is my way of celebrating and thanking the fans who’ve stood by me for 20 years.”
The Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special will stream on Disney+ beginning Tuesday, March 24.
