Shia LaBeouf has been arrested in New Orleans — again.

As reported by TMZ and confirmed by Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office records, the actor was booked into the Orleans Justice Center on Saturday (Feb. 28) at around 1:40 p.m. local time on a charge of simple battery.

No information was immediately available as to whether this charge was connected to the February 17 fight that ended in the actor’s arrest. However, it seems likely that the new arrest is connected to the prior one.

It was reported on Friday (Feb. 27) that there was an arrest warrant out for LaBeouf stemming from an additional alleged victim in the altercation. Complex has reached out to the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office for comment.

LaBeouf’s first arrest happened after an incident on Royal Street in New Orleans during Mardi Gras. A rep for the New Orleans Police Department provided details.

“At approximately 12:45am on February 17, 2026, NOPD officers were called to the 1400 block of Royal Street in response to a simple battery where two victims (two adult males), reported being assaulted,” a department rep told Complex at the time. “Investigators say a man identified as 39-year-old Shia LaBeouf was reportedly causing a disturbance and becoming increasing aggressive at a Royal Street business. A staff member attempted to eject Mr. LaBeouf from the establishment. Once removed from the building, the victim reported being struck by LaBeouf who used his closed fists on the victim several times.”

According to the police rep, the alleged victims said that LaBeouf then left the scene, but returned and was “acting even more aggressive.” At this point, per police, multiple people tried to intervene.

“Multiple people attempted to hold him down,” the police rep told Complex. “He was eventually let up in hopes that he would leave, but he reportedly again struck the same victim with closed fists to the victim’s upper body. LaBeouf then reportedly assaulted another person, punching him in the nose. LaBeouf was again held down until police arrived.”

The rep also confirmed that LaBeouf was transported to a nearby hospital for “unknown injuries.” Once released, he was “arrested and charged with two counts of simple battery.”

Additional details were later made public, thanks in large part to an incident report from New Orleans police. Complex was given access to a redacted version of that report, which saw LaBeouf being accused of having “used the word ‘f*ggot’” multiple times during the Mardi Gras incident.

LaBeouf was released on $100,000 bond and ordered to attend rehab while the case plays out.

In a new interview, the actor blamed the incident on gay men touching him.

“Big gay people are scary to me,” he told YouTuber Andrew Callaghan. “When I’m like, by myself and three big gay dudes are touching my leg, I’ll be honest. I get scared. I’m sorry. If that’s homophobic, then I’m that.”
