Gwyneth Paltrow is keeping it real about what it’s like to bring your kids to a movie premiere.

During a recent Q&A following a screening of Marty Supreme in Santa Monica, the Oscar-winning actress revealed that her 19-year-old son Moses was less than thrilled about watching her steamy moments with co-star Timothée Chalamet on the big screen.

“Oh my God! My poor son,” Paltrow joked while speaking with Demi Moore, who hosted the conversation, according to People. Paltrow said her son was completely embarrassed during the film’s Los Angeles premiere, adding that Moses “wanted to die” having to sit through the sex scenes with his mom in the room.

Paltrow attended the L.A. premiere in December alongside her son, whom she shares with ex-husband Chris Martin. A week later, the actress brought both Moses and her daughter Apple, 21, to the film’s New York City premiere, turning the rollout into a full family affair, even if Moses wasn’t exactly enjoying every moment.

Directed by Josh Safdie, Marty Supreme is a fast-paced period film set in 1950s New York City, starring Chalamet as Marty Mauser, a shoe salesman who becomes obsessed with becoming the world’s greatest ping-pong player. Paltrow plays a table tennis power player who enters Marty’s life, and she previously hinted that the relationship between their characters isn’t exactly subtle.

In a past interview, Paltrow described her character as a woman connected to what she jokingly called the “ping-pong mafia,” and teased that she and Chalamet “have a lot of sex” in the film, stressing that it’s “a lot.”

According to Paltrow, their characters connect through a romance that’s both emotional and strategic. She suggested her character has lived a difficult life and finds new energy through Marty, but the relationship also comes with strings attached on both sides, calling it somewhat transactional.

Paltrow also had nothing but praise for Chalamet, calling him a “thinking man’s sex symbol” and complimenting his professionalism on set. She described him as polite, serious about the work, and a fun collaborator.

The film also marks a shift in how sex scenes are handled in Hollywood compared to when Paltrow was coming up in the industry. She revealed that the production used an intimacy coordinator, something she admitted was completely new to her.

Paltrow said that when she was asked whether she was comfortable with certain choreography, she had a blunt response that she comes from an era when actors simply got into bed, got naked, and let the cameras roll.
