Marvel Studios has struck internet gold with their trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
On March 18, the trailer for the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film was released, showing Tom Holland reprising his role as Peter Parker/Spidey, along with returning cast members Zendaya and Jacob Batalon, and introducing new players Sadie Sink, Tramell Tillman, and Jon Bernthal as The Punisher.
MCU fans proved that they’re locked into the movie, which releases on July 31, because according to WaveMetrix, per Variety, the Brand New Day trailer has gotten a record-setting 1.1 billion views. That includes the trailer’s first-day views of 718.6 million views, which made it the biggest trailer launch for a film or video game in history.
The last film to hold the record was 2024 action-comedy Deadpool and Wolverine, which scored 365 million views within 24 hours after it premiered during that year’s Super Bowl LVIII. The trailer for Brand New Day all succeeds the 24-hour viewing record for highly-anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI, which achieved close to half a billion views upon its debut.
Brand New Day follows Spider-Man: No Way Home, which grossed $1.9 billion globally following its release in December 2021.
Post-Spider-Man, the MCU is slated to release Avengers: Doomsday in December 2026. There are a number of Disney+ shows on the horizon this year as well, including the WandaVision spin-off VisionQuest, as well as second seasons of both Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man and Daredevil: Born Again. Wonder Man, which was renewed for a second season, premiered in January.
