Alexis Ortega, the Mexican voice actor widely recognized as the Latin American Spanish voice of Spider-Man, has died at the age of 38.

His death was confirmed on Monday, January 26, by El Mundo. No cause of death has been disclosed.

News of his passing quickly spread across social media, with many Marvel fans remembering his work throughout the franchise in posts.

Born August 31, 1987, in Mexico, Ortega began his professional career in 2013 and quickly established himself within the dubbing industry. Over the following decade, his work became a familiar part of major international releases distributed throughout Latin America, particularly within animated and franchise films.

Ortega was best known for providing the Latin Spanish voice for Spider-Man during the character’s early appearances portrayed by Tom Holland in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

His performances were featured in Captain America: Civil War (2016), Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), and Avengers: Infinity War (2018). For Latin American, Spanish-first audiences, Ortega’s voice became closely associated with the character during that era of the franchise.

Ortega also pursued on-screen acting alongside his voice work. He appeared in Luis Miguel: The Series, portraying a younger version of Jorge “El Burro” Van Rankin, and starred in La Casa de las Flores, where he played Federico “DJ Freddy” Limantour.

More recently, Ortega expanded into digital dubbing projects tied to online content, including Spanish-language adaptations of MrBeast's content.

At the time of his death, Ortega had remained active on social media, and no prior health concerns had been made public.
