Quinton Aaron, star of 2009 sports drama The Blind Side, has finally spoken about the relationship between him and a woman who proclaimed herself his “spiritual wife.”
In January, Aaron, 41, was hospitalized after a spinal stroke, which put him in a coma. During his hospitalization, the actor’s personal life was publicized, with news surfacing that the entertainer and his “spiritual wife,” Margarita DeLeon, were married at a Los Angeles chapel in December 2024.
Upon waking from his coma. Aaron was told by his attorney that DeLeon’s previous divorce, from a 1992 marriage, was not legally finalized. That led to Aaron’s family requesting a temporary restraining order on his behalf.
With Aaron continuing to recover from his stroke and subsequent infection, the actor appeared on the Monday (April 20) episode of Good Morning America, where he addressed DeLeon’s previous marriage.
“The entire time we were together, she told me she had been divorced for 10-plus years,” he said. "She even told the person where we were getting married, ‘Oh, yes, I can have all the documents I can emailed over to you, the divorce decree,’” he said, “[Not confirming that was] my biggest mistake.”
Aaron admitted to being in love with his wife at the time, but acknowledged having “blissful ignorance.”
“A lot of it I didn’t want to know,” he continued.
DeLeon spoke separately to GMA, claiming that she “wasn’t aware” of the divorce not being finalized. Her husband confirmed to the show that he, too, thought the divorce was final.
Aaron summed up the situation by saying, “If I had a chance to do it over, I would have done my due diligence. I would have definitely done a lot more research.”
Amid the revelation about his marriage, the actor is continuing therapy to improve his health, has lost more than 100 pounds, and expects a full recovery within a year.
