Lindsay Lohan permanently relocated Dubai when she was no longer satisfied with living in Hollywood.
The 39-year-old appears on the new cover of Vogue Arabia and spoke to the publication about her move to the United Arab Emirates in 2014.
Eight years later, the actress married her husband, Bader Shammas, and the following year, they welcomed their son, Luai.
Lohan said that residing in Dubai is a “big breath of fresh air” and expressed that she doesn’t have to “overthink” her actions in the city.
“Being in Dubai is very grounding,” she told Vogue Arabia. “I get to just spend time with my family. The city gives me a sense of being with what’s most important.”
As for her decision to move away from Los Angeles, Lohan said she “wasn’t having fun in the business anymore.”
“It’s not a life I wanted to live, you know? It’s not a real life,” she added. “It pushed me so far away that I moved to the other side of the world. And I’m so glad I followed my gut.”
Since her international move, the Freakier Friday star has occasionally returned to the U.S. to film movies like Irish Wish and Our Little Secret.
Freakier Friday, the sequel to 2003 comedy Freaky Friday, was a box office smash and grossed over $160 million globally upon its release last August.
While visiting Live With Kelly and Mark last July, Lohan said that her family lives a “very normal life” in Dubai.
“There’s no worry of like, ‘I can’t go eat at this place ‘cause someone’s gonna take a picture of my son.’ I feel very safe,” she said.
