Dru Hammer, the mother of actor Armie Hammer, had to look internally to "forgive" her son's ex-wife, Elizabeth Chambers.
Chambers, who shares two children with the Call Me By Your Name star, was greatly affected by her former husband's infidelities and cannabalism allegations in 2021, and finalized her divorce from Hammer in 2021. But on a new episode of The Outlier Podcast, the actor's mother claims that she personally had to make amends with Chambers. With her late ex-husband, businessman Michael Armand Hammer, Dru Hammer also has a second son, Viktor.
Around the 22:50 mark of the podcast, host Lauren Conlin asked Hammer whether she was able to see her grandchildren despite the nasty divorce between her oldest son and his ex-wife.
“Absolutely, because you know what? I had a call with Elizabeth, and I said, 'Look, the divorce is over,'" Hammer said. "'You know, as far as I'm concerned, bygones are bygones and I love you and I forgive you, you know, for anything that you might have done to hurt Armie because you were hurt.'"
She continued, “'And I understand I've been there. And you know, I ask you to forgive me if I've ever done anything that's hurt you.' And now we have a beautiful relationship, and I go see my grandchildren, and they're the love of my life."
She concluded, "And I would never let anything get in that way if it was humanly possible. And again, it all gets down to forgiveness. You forgive and you shake the sand off your feet and you move on. That's what God teaches us to do."
While Dru Hammer's didn't specify what she and Chambers had to forgive each other for, her response was similar to her son's interview on Piers Morgan Uncensored earlier this month. Around the 15-minute mark of the interview below, Hammer said that he and Chambers are "good co-parents" to their two children, Harper, seven, and Ford, seven, and that they've "worked through a lot of stuff together."
"We are able to put our children first and foremost, and I would say that, in a big way, bygones are bygones," he said.
