No, Robert Downey Jr. did not pay for Armie Hammer's six-month period in rehab.

The false report was cleared up when Hammer was on an episode of Piers Morgan Uncensored, which was posted last Friday (July 19). As Morgan questioned the disgraced actor about rumors of cannibalism, infidelity, and his family's alleged history of abuse, around the 1:06:00 mark in the video below, Hammer was then asked about his friendship with Downey. Last year, a Vanity Fair report claimed that the Iron Man actor financially covered Hammer's time in rehab while he sought treatment for drug and alcohol dependency and sex addiction.

"No, he did not. He did not pay for me to go to rehab," Hammer clarified to Morgan.

When asked whether Downey had been "supportive," Hammer responded, "I would say yes."

He continued, "I don’t want to bring anyone else into my situation. There are a number of people who have been extremely helpful, and I’m incredibly grateful."

Hammer added that Downey is one of those individuals "in the way where anyone in Hollywood who suffers from any sort of addiction issues—whether it be alcohol or process addiction or drugs—decides to get sober."

"That guy will find you, and he will help you. It’s amazing," he concluded.

It's well-documented that Downey had a dependence to addictive substances throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, and he briefly spent time in prison in 1999 after missing court-ordered drug tests. The Oscar-winner would also attend drug treatment programs before officially going sober by 2003. Since then, he's launched an unparalleled Hollywood comeback, and has likely wanted similar redemption for Hammer.
