When Sabrina Carpenter performed during the second week of Coachella, there was a special guest appearance from Madonna. The pair surprised the crowd with “Vogue” and “Like a Prayer.” However, the vintage pieces that Madonna wore on stage—including a fuchsia corset, knee-high boots, stockings, and a leather jacket—have allegedly gone missing.
"Still flying high since Friday night at Coachella," Madonna posted to her Instagram Stories on April 20. "This full circle moment hit different until I discovered that the vintage pieces that I wore went missing—my costume that was pulled from my personal archives—jacket, corset, dress and all other garments. These aren’t just clothes, they are part of my history. Other archival items from the same era went missing as well. I’m hoping and praying that some kind soul will find these items."
Although TMZ stated that she filed a missing property report, they also claimed that the items might not have been intentionally stolen. The police said the pieces “may have fallen off a golf cart operated by staff who were on their way to load the bags onto a bus. Upon arriving at the hotel shortly thereafter, the staff realized the bags were missing.”
Despite the mishap, both Carpenter and Madonna have spoken about how special the performance was to them. According to The Hollywood Reporter, when Madonna took the stage, she told the crowd, “I have a few things I wanna get off my chest. So 20 years ago today I performed at Coachella. I was in the dance tent and it was the first time I performed Confessions on a Dance Floor Part One in America, and that was such a thrill for me, so you can imagine what a thrill it is to be back 20 years later in the same boots, with the same corset, the jacket I had on earlier, a Gucci jacket.”
“The other thrilling thing I need to point out to everybody right now is this probably is the first time I’ve ever performed with someone who’s shorter than me,” she joked. “So, thank you for giving me that experience.”
