The Lambrini Girls were scheduled to perform at Coachella, which will take place over two weekends this month. However, on April 8, singer and guitarist Phoebe Lunny announced that the band’s performance has been canceled.
The caption on her post, which included a photograph of her in a hospital gown, said, "A lot of you asking about why we are not on the Coachella lineup anymore. ALL HEADLINE DATES HAVE BEEN RESCHEDULED UK/EU DATES ARE GOING AHEAD LATE MAY ONWARDS."
She went on to explain, “We have to pull out of Coachella and reschedule our whole American headline tour. Long story short: I fractured my neck and have an acute brain injury.”
The injury, which occurred during a recent Australian tour, was originally misdiagnosed. Since she received late treatment, the doctors have ordered her not to fly or perform for six weeks.
The English punk band member went on to say, “To all American ticket holders: it’s dark times, especially in the states. There are so many good folks who are carving out community and lifting each other up in the face of fascism. Making space for subversion and resistance is at the core of what this band is about. Seeing people of all ages, genders and backgrounds come together to mosh, lift each other up, chant, cry, scream in both parts joyful and angry, is my greatest joy.”
The singer admitted that she was gutted about missing the performance. "We hope and pray there’s some universe we get to play next year instead,” she added. “Because it is my neck and brain, our hands are tied for now, but I’m lucky and expect a speedy recovery.”
The post, which is filled with comments from fans encouraging her to get well soon and take care of herself, ended with a list of their rescheduled North American tour dates.
