On April 1, Courtney Love appeared on the Magnificent Others with Billy Corgan podcast. During the episode, she spoke about her former feud with the Foo Fighters frontman, Dave Grohl, who was friends with her husband, Kurt Cobain. He even attended their wedding. However, a few years after Cobain died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, Grohl publicly criticized Love’s songwriting abilities. They were also in a heated legal battle over the rights to Nirvana’s music.
However, their feud seems to be over. According to People, “The two appeared to have mended fences by 2014, though, when they were seen hugging at Nirvana's induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.”
During her recent podcast appearance, Love spoke about Grohl. "Be man enough to man up," she said. “It would really behoove me if the straight white males that are your base, if you will, stop picking on me. The millennials in particular. Gen Z is not picking on me anymore."
Corgan revealed that he has spent time with Grohl, and knows firsthand that he has no problem with Love. She replied, “Say that to his base. It's so stupid.”
She went on to say, "I couldn't write a song about Dave Grohl to save my life. He's written like, four songs about me and they're hits. I'm like, wait what? Like, what about me? I don't get it."
Grohl confirmed that his 1995 song “I’ll Stick Around” from his self-titled debut album was about Love. It’s also suspected that his 2007 song “Let if Die” was about her.
He described the latter as "a song that's written about feeling helpless to someone else's demise. I've seen people lose it all to drugs and heartbreak and death. It's happened more than once in my life, but the one that's most noted is Kurt. And there are a lot of people that I've been angry with in my life, but the one that's most noted is Courtney. So it's pretty obvious to me that those correlations are gonna pop up every now and again."
