On April 16, Katie Holmes posted a photograph of herself with her arms wrapped around her ex-boyfriend, Joshua Jackson. “We are so thrilled to be a part of the Tribeca Film Festival this June with our film Happy Hours. So many beautiful people worked on this project. And working with Josh again was a dream,” she captioned the post.
Thousands of excited fans left comments, happy to see the two actors back together again. Holmes was caught liking comments from some of them that suggested that they should be a couple and wishing that the post was a hard launch.
The pair appeared on the hit show Dawson’s Creek from 1998 to 2003, playing Pacey Witter and Joey Potter, an on-and-off couple who ended up together in the end.
Now, they have reunited to create Happy Hours. According to IMDB, the upcoming film is a romantic comedy directed by Holmes. “Former sweethearts cross paths years later and rekindle their connection, balancing careers, family duties, and personal dreams while rediscovering what they once had - and what they could become,” the site explains.
In a 1998 Rolling Stone interview, Holmes spoke about her relationship with Jackson. “I’m just going to say that I met somebody last year,” she explained. “I fell in love, I had my first love, and it was something so incredible and indescribable that I will treasure it always. And that I feel so fortunate because he’s now one of my best friends. He’s been in the business so long, and he’s really helped me. I respect him as a friend and as a professional.”
The pair broke up around 1999 but remained close friends. Holmes went on to marry to Tom Cruise in 2006, divorcing in 2012. They share one child. Jackson was married to Jodie Turner-Smith in 2019 and had a daughter. However, they have since divorced.
