Amanda Peet appeared on the April 6 episode of The Drew Barrymore Show to promote Your Friends & Neighbors. During the interview, the pair discussed an intimate moment that they shared decades ago.
“I miss the ’80s,” Barrymore told her guest. “By the way, speaking of, did we make out at Carrie Fisher’s house?”
"I feel like that might have happened," Peet agreed. Then Barrymore added, “It’s so nice to see you again. I feel like Matthew Perry was there. It was at Carrie Fisher’s house. Listen, again, life used to be so much more fun.”
Barrymore has spoken about her time at Fisher’s house in the past. “I loved going to her house,” she said during Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen in 2018. “It was like a hacienda-type, beautiful home off Coldwater Canyon—very Los Angeles. She had a very open home. I’d go there for parties and visit her office during the day. It was classic Spanish California—sunshine, orange groves, and creativity. I’m proud to say I came and went, because I feel like a lot of people stayed. I remember Garry Shandling being weird in the driveway. And I was like, ‘I’m so glad I’m going home! I’m so glad I’m surviving these kind of nights.'”
During the interview, Peet also revealed a fun fact to Barrymore. “I just have to tell you that the place we lived for 16 years before we moved, we had a picture of you on our fridge for like from the get-go of Game of Thrones wearing a t-shirt that said Mother of Dragons.” Peet is married to David Benioff, who co-created HBO’s Game of Thrones.
“It's one of my most favorite images of my life,” Barrymore said. “Because through your husband's writing and creating of a character in Khaleesi that any woman could claim to be the mother of dragons, it empowered us all, and holding those two babies on my hips, I never thought my journey would go there. I didn't even know if I would be alive. I didn't know if I would be a parent. I didn't know if I would be a good parent, and that moment is one of the proudest of my life and it's completely in honor of your family.”
Peet is currently starring on the second season of the Apple TV+ show, Your Friends & Neighbors, which releases new episodes on Fridays. The series, starring Jon Hamm, follows a financial titan who ends up divorced and jobless, then resorts to stealing from his wealthy social circle.
