Brandi Glanville recently ended up in urgent care after trying to clear her sinuses with a popular home remedy that has been shared on TikTok. During the April 9 episode of her Brandi Glanville Unfiltered podcast, she spoke candidly about the incident.
“On Easter, I didn’t do anything because of the garlic in my ear,” she revealed before explaining that her 22-year-old son, Mason, had given her the suggestion. “Listen, Mason also said when he had a cold, he put it in his nostril and it helped him. I tried my nostril, it was burning too much, so I moved it to my ear. It was, like, burning my skin because I just lasered it.”
She went on to say, “Every time I tried to get it out, it really went down further. And I had to go to urgent care the next day and get it taken out.”
Although TikTok has popularized this trend, many doctors have advised against it. According to Entertainment Weekly, Dr. Raj Sindwani, an ENT specialist, said it can make congestion worse. It can also cause irritation, infection, or trauma to the septum.
"What you're doing is putting this irritant up your nose—one with a very strong and noxious smell," he said. "That irritates the lining of the nose, causing it to produce increased mucus while also trapping the mucus you already had."
Glanville warned her followers against the practice, too. “It’s online,” she said. “Don’t listen to people online or TikTok or Instagram or Twitter or Facebook.”
This isn’t the first time that Glanville publicly spoke about a medical issue. She also revealed that her breast implants led to her facial parasite. Implants should be swapped out every ten years, but she kept hers for twenty years, which she has advised others against.
