Amanda Bynes is about to release her first song in years, “Girlfriend.”
To create the track, she teamed up with Fenix Flexin from Shoreline Mafia. Fenix Flexin is a rapper from Los Angeles who has released solo songs and songs with his hip hop group.
Ahead of the release of “Girlfriend,” Bynes signed with Create Music Group. The Los Angeles based company, which was founded in 2015 by Jonathan Strauss and Alexandre Williams, has worked with well-known artists in the past. They include 6ix9ine, YNW Melly, and deadmau5.
When discussing Bynes’ new single, Create told TMZ, "'GIRLFRIEND' blends melodic rap with EDM-inspired production, creating a catchy, high-replay record with a smooth West Coast bounce. Built around a strong hook and confident, flirt-heavy energy, it's designed for repeat listens and wide playlist appeal. Featuring Fenix Flexin, it taps into a familiar L.A. sound while staying fresh and accessible."
This is not Bynes’ first time pursuing music. In 2021, she released “Diamonds,” her first rap song with her fiancé at the time, Paul Michael. “Diamonds, diamonds, diamonds on my neck, on my wrist,” she rapped on the track. “Diamonds, diamonds, diamonds on my fist, yeah, I whip."
The pair dropped another single called “Fairfax” in 2022. However, they split around 2023 after an on-and-off engagement.
Bynes, who turned 40 this April, rose to fame on All That and The Amanda Show when she was only a child. She also starred in hits like What I Like About You, What a Girl Wants, She’s the Man, Hairspray, and Easy A. She graduated from California’s Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in 2019, after five years of studying. Her conservatorship, which began in 2013 and lasted nine years, ended in March 2022.
Her new single “Girlfriend” is dropping April 10 on Apple Music and Spotify.
