D.L. Hughley isn’t done with Nicki Minaj.

In a clip that made the rounds online on Thursday (Dec. 25), the comedian and actor responded to Minaj’s surprise appearance at Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest alongside Charlie Kirk’s widow, Erika, on Sunday (Dec. 21).

Hughley played a clip of Minaj explaining that she has the “utmost respect and admiration for our president.” Hughley then followed up with videos of Kirk saying, “I don’t think that’s a good role model for 18-year-old Black girls,” referring to Nicki, and Kirk speaking on his immigration stance.

“It’s not our job to open up our borders to every sad story around the planet,” Kirk said. Minaj immigrated to the US from Trinidad and Tobago as a child.

“Nicki Minaj is virtually everything that the man [Kirk] who started that movement was against, but, yet, she finds herself the keynote speaker at the very movement he founded,” Hughley said.

“I find it ironic that the members of MAGA would turn their back on their principles so swiftly for convenience sake—it seems to be transactional,” he said, echoing recent comments Lizzo made about Minaj. “And it seems to be that MAGA hates everything—they call [themselves] Patriots, they call [themselves] Christians, but seem to hate everything except racists, pedophiles, and sellouts.

“It astounds me that transgender people draw their ire more than pedophiles, but I guess for Nicki, that would be par for the course,” Hughley added. “Her brother is a pedophile, her husband is a registered sex offender, and we know that MAGA doesn’t have an aversion to that; that isn’t a disqualifier for them.”

What Hughley said about Minaj's husband and brother is true. Her husband, Kenneth “Zoo” Petty, is a registered sex offender after he was convicted of first-degree rape in 1995 in New York, and subsequently served four years in prison following the conviction. In 2020, Minaj's brother, Jelani Maraj, was sentenced to 25 years in prison for child rape.

Earlier this month, Hughley took aim at the Pink Friday 2 rapper after her recent tweets targeting California Gov. Gavin Newsom and his support for trans kids.

“I want to see trans kids. I have a trans godson,” Newsom told The Times on Dec. 10. “There’s no governor who has signed more pro-trans legislation than I have. No one has been a stronger advocate for the LGBTQ community.”

“Imagine being the guy running on wanting to see trans kids. Haha. Not even a trans ADULT would run on that,” Minaj wrote. “Normal adults wake up & think they want to see HEALTHY, SAFE, HAPPY kids.”

“Nicki Minaj shouldnt post anything about kids cuz her husband can't be within 1000 ft of one!” Hughley responded to Nicki.

Minaj also commented on Newsom during her AmericaFest appearance, doubling down on her rhetoric against him when answering Erika’s question about advice for struggling children, with Minaj saying girls should be "proud of how they look" and that "boys will be boys."
