Sydney Sweeney's controversial ad campaign for American Eagle continues to have legs ... this time getting attention from a Chicago strip club.
TMZ reports the Admiral Theater in Chicago will not only host a Sweeney lookalike contest this weekend, but also a "Great Jeans Contest" where participants are asked to strut their stuff in their best pair of jeans.
A flyer promoting the event reads, "Do you have great jeans? Prove it. Compete in our GREAT JEANS CONTEST for your chance to win $2500 in CASH & PRIZES!"
Admiral Theater is clear in its advertisement, contestants MUST wear jeans and be at least 18 to enter. The winner will be selected by the audience. A rep for the club tells TMZ the event is "about confidence, curves, and capturing that perfect mix of sexy and self-assured just like Sydney did."
The rep adds, "Whether you're blessed with the right genes or rocking the right jeans, this is your night to shine."
Of course, Sweeney and the AE campaign have been the subject of massive controversy since the ad was released, with many saying it promotes white supremacy and eugenics.
American Eagle released a statement backing Sweeney and the campaign, adding, "Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans’ is and always was about the jeans. Her jeans. Her story.” The statement adds, “We’ll continue to celebrate how everyone wears their AE jeans with confidence, their way. Great jeans look good on everyone.”
Sweeney also felt the heat from the campaign during the Hollywood premiere of her film Americana over the weekend. In video obtained by TMZ, a heckler let Sweeney hear it as she entered the venue, yelling, "Stop the ad, that is being racist!"
Sweeney, surrounded by security, didn't seem to pay much attention to the heckler ... but they were definitely within earshot.
