Michael Madsen's cause of death has been revealed, confirming what the actor's doctor told the public only days after his sudden passing.

According to Madsen's death certificate, prepared by the Los Angeles County Coroner and obtained by TMZ, the "Kill Bill" actor died from cardiac arrest. However, the report states Madsen's cardiac arrest was brought on by years of chronic alcoholism, cardiomyopathy, and coronary artery disease.

What's more, Madsen also had a condition called thromboembolic disease, which leads to blood clots throughout the body.

Madsen's death certificate lists his occupation as an actor working in entertainment and reveals he will be cremated.

Madsen was found unresponsive July 3 at his Malibu home, and pronounced dead at the scene. At the time of his death, there was no foul play suspected. Less than a week after Madsen's death, his cardiologist told NBCLA the actor died from cardiac arrest, a statement confirmed by the death certificate.

As for Madsen's battle with alcoholism, that was no secret to those around him. In fact, his attorney of 20 years, Perry Wander, said he spoke with Madsen only days before the actor's death and could tell the actor was not well. Wander told the DailyMail, "Michael was suffering from the effects of alcoholism. He had multiple stints in and out of rehab. He struggled to maintain his sobriety. He was not happy about his life.”

Michael Madsen got his big break in Quentin Tarantino's "Reservoir Dogs" back in 1992 and later found success in films like "Free Willy," "Kill Bill: Volume 2," "The Hateful Eight" and reunited with Tarantino once again for "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" in 2019.

Madsen was 67 years old. He leaves behind his 6 children, including his son, actor Christian Madsen, and his wife, DeAnna Madsen.
