Sadie Soverall is reportedly the latest actor circling Brady Corbet’s increasingly high-profile next film, a mysterious “X-rated” epic that already includes Selena Gomez, Cate Blanchett, and Michael Fassbender.

According to Deadline, Soverall is being eyed for a lead role in the project, which is rumored to be titled The Origin of the World. While her deal has reportedly not yet closed, sources say the actress is Corbet’s preferred choice for the role. Representatives for both Soverall and Corbet declined to comment.

The film remains largely under wraps, but Corbet has begun to reveal pieces of what audiences can expect. During an appearance at Dublin’s Storyhouse Screenwriting Festival, the director described the movie as being centered on “American mysticism” and “the history of the occult in America.”

He has also confirmed that the project is based on a 200-page screenplay and called it an “X-rated” feature that spans multiple eras, from the 19th century through modern day, with much of the story focused on the 1970s.

“The film is really, really genre-defying,” Corbet previously said while discussing the project.

The casting adds another major opportunity for Soverall, who is quickly emerging as one of Hollywood’s most closely watched young actors. She recently landed the lead role in Every Year After, the upcoming Prime Video adaptation of the BookTok-driven novel Every Summer After. The series is scheduled to premiere at Tribeca ahead of its June streaming debut.

Soverall is also set to appear in the upcoming romantic comedy Finding Emily. Some viewers may also recognize her from Saltburn and Fate: The Winx Saga.

For Gomez, the project represents another step deeper into prestige cinema after years of balancing acting, music, beauty entrepreneurship, and internet-favorite celebrity moments with husband Benny Blanco.

In recent months, Gomez has dominated headlines not only for her career but also for her increasingly public relationship with Blanco, including viral moments tied to Blanco’s Friends Keep Secrets podcast and Gomez openly referring to herself online as “Mrs. Blanco.”

At the same time, Gomez’s acting résumé has continued to evolve. Following early fame on Wizards of Waverly Place, she transitioned into more experimental material with Spring Breakers and, most recently, earned critical acclaim for Emilia Pérez, which helped secure a Cannes best actress win shared with Zoe Saldaña, Karla Sofía Gascón, and Adriana Paz.
