Lucasfilm brought The Mandalorian & Grogu back into the spotlight at CinemaCon on Wednesday night, April 15, debuting the film’s final trailer less than six weeks before its theatrical release. The new footage shifts the focus away from the spectacle of the first teaser and toward the relationship at the center of the story: Din Djarin and Grogu.
The trailer opens with Grogu alone in a swamp, seated on a moss-covered log in an image that recalls Yoda’s earliest appearances. From there, the footage quickly cuts to the pair’s latest mission. Sigourney Weaver’s character, New Republic leader Ward, speaks about “the Mandalorian and his child” as the galaxy continues rebuilding after the fall of the Empire.
Per Ars Technica, Din Djarin, played once again by Pedro Pascal, makes clear that he is not interested in chasing small-time criminals. “I only take jobs involving warlords,” he says before promising to “take out every bad guy in your deck of cards.”
The latest look at The Mandalorian & Grogu also offers more context for the threat facing the New Republic. Imperial factions remain scattered across the galaxy, and Ward tells Din that the fight is bigger than revenge. “We’re protecting everything the Rebellion fought for,” she says in the trailer. Din appears willing to join that mission, even if his reasons are more personal.
While the film’s earlier footage leaned heavily on action, the CinemaCon trailer spends more time with Grogu. The tiny apprentice is shown traveling alongside a group of Anzellans, the same species first introduced in The Rise of Skywalker. One of them jokingly refers to him as “a horrible baby,” continuing the lighter tone that has defined the series since Grogu first appeared in 2019.
The trailer still leaves room for larger set pieces. Din is seen battling Imperial forces, while Grogu appears to step in after the Mandalorian is captured by Hutts. A rebuilt version of the Razor Crest also returns after the original ship was destroyed during the Disney+ series. Jeremy Allen White appears as Rotta the Hutt, the son of Jabba, while Jonny Coyne reprises his role as an Imperial warlord. The film will also include Zeb Orrelios, Embo, Trapper Wolf, and several familiar faces from across the wider Star Wars universe.
Lucasfilm first teased the movie last fall with footage of exploding AT-ATs, gladiator battles, and Grogu using the Force. A longer trailer released earlier this year introduced Weaver’s character and revealed that the story would send Din and Grogu into the middle of the New Republic’s fight against the Imperial remnants.
Now, with the final trailer unveiled at CinemaCon, The Mandalorian & Grogu is positioned as the franchise’s first theatrical test since 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker.
The film arrives in theaters and IMAX on May 22, 2026.
