Star Wars fans finally have their first glimpse at The Mandalorian and Grogu, the upcoming feature film set to bring Din Djarin and his tiny apprentice back to the big screen.
Disney and Lucasfilm released the first official teaser trailer, along with striking key art, marking the franchise’s return to theaters after a six-year hiatus.
Set after the fall of the Empire, the film follows Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and Grogu as they navigate a galaxy where Imperial warlords still linger. According to the official synopsis, the New Republic enlists the pair to protect the fragile peace. In the trailer, a brand-new Razor Crest makes its debut as the duo embarks on their most ambitious mission yet.
The teaser highlights Grogu more than ever, from peering through a tiny telescope to interacting with Anzellan friends, while Din Djarin steps into larger battles.
Among the footage includes shots of towering Imperial AT-AT remnants, gladiator arenas where Dejarik creatures come to life, and a silhouette of a massive Hutt presence.
Pedro Pascal returns as Din Djarin, with Sigourney Weaver appearing as a Rebel Alliance colonel—the only unmasked human face shown in the trailer. Jeremy Allen White joins the galaxy far, far away as Rotta the Hutt, while Jonny Coyne plays an Imperial warlord.
Behind the camera, Jon Favreau directs and co-writes alongside longtime Star Wars collaborator Dave Filoni. Kathleen Kennedy, Dave Filoni, and Ian Bryce join Favreau as producers, while Ludwig Göransson returns to score the film’s music.
The newly unveiled poster takes inspiration from 1960s spaghetti westerns, Kurosawa films, and the original Flash Gordon serials—echoing the same creative DNA George Lucas drew on when building the original trilogy.
This film marks the first Star Wars theatrical release since 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker, which premiered just a month after The Mandalorian launched on Disney+.
Now, The Mandalorian and Grogu has the challenge of proving the saga can still dominate at the box office.
The Mandalorian and Grogu will open exclusively in theaters on May 22, 2026.
