Jennifer Lopez is officially entering her empty-nest era, and the latest milestone brought plenty of emotion. The singer and actress was photographed wiping away tears as her son Max graduated from high school, marking the second graduation celebration for her family in less than two weeks.
Photos from the ceremony, which were obtained by The New York Post, showed Lopez embracing the 18-year-old graduate after he received his diploma. Dressed in a floral dress and cardigan, the Office Romance star appeared visibly emotional throughout the event, which was attended by her parents, Guadalupe Rodríguez and David Lopez, longtime manager Benny Medina, and Max's twin sibling, Oskar.
The graduation carries extra significance for Lopez because both of her children are preparing to leave home for college later this year. Recently, the entertainer revealed that Max and Oskar were accepted to all five colleges they applied to, and each received scholarship offers. Lopez also shared that both children have ADHD and faced learning challenges throughout their academic careers.
"I watched how hard they worked," Lopez said in a recent interview. "They have ADHD, and so they need to learn differently." She added that she was proud not only of their academic achievements but also because "they're good people."
While the graduation celebration centered on Max's accomplishment, another detail drew attention. Once again, Marc Anthony was not seen at the ceremony. The singer was also absent from Oskar's graduation event in late May, where Lopez attended alongside family members and Samuel Affleck, the son of her former husband, Ben Affleck.
That earlier graduation generated headlines after Oskar, formerly known publicly as Emme Muñiz, was identified by a new name in a social media post announcing college plans. The post revealed that Oskar will attend Sarah Lawrence College and study theater and studio arts. Lopez has not publicly commented on the name change, but she has consistently emphasized supporting her children's individual choices and ambitions.
