A major milestone in the life of Jennifer Lopez's child is drawing attention beyond the typical graduation celebration. As the singer and actress marked the high school graduation of her 18-year-old child, formerly known publicly as Emme Muñiz, a school-related social media post identified the graduate by a different name: Oskar Jacob Muñiz.
According to The New York Post, the development surfaced through an Instagram account dedicated to documenting college decisions from graduating seniors at Windward School in Los Angeles. In a post celebrating the graduate's next chapter, Oskar was named, and his private Instagram account was tagged. The post revealed his plans to attend Sarah Lawrence College this fall, and the private profile uses he/him identifiers and references the future college destination. The post featured a childhood photo alongside the school's logo and noted that Oskar intends to study theater and studio arts.
Earlier this week, per a separate New York Post report, the entertainer attended the graduation ceremony alongside her mother, Guadalupe Rodríguez, and Samuel Affleck, the son of Lopez's former husband, Ben Affleck.
Photos from the event also showed Oskar's twin brother, Max, celebrating the occasion despite their father, Marc Anthony, being absent. The graduation marks a significant transition for the twins, who were born in 2008 during Lopez's marriage to singer Anthony.
The college announcement offered additional details about Oskar's future plans. "Oskar to Sarah Lawrence!" the caption read. "No more impromptu NYC trips because he'll be living there! Good thing it's only a few hours away from Stagedoor. Go gryphons!! Congrats!!!"
While Lopez has not publicly commented on the name change, she has been candid about the emotions surrounding her children's graduation. During a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the entertainer admitted she has been struggling with the reality of both twins preparing to leave home.
"Don't talk about it because [I] start crying," Lopez joked, later revealing she had been "crying for two months" as the transition approached.
