For years, Halle Berry fought to keep her daughter out of the public eye. Now, that daughter is stepping into adulthood. This week, Berry and her former partner, Gabriel Aubry, reunited in Los Angeles to celebrate their daughter, Nahla Ariela Aubry, at her high school graduation, marking the end of one chapter and the beginning of another as she prepares to head off to college.
Photos from the ceremony, which were obtained by Page Six, showed Berry attending alongside her longtime partner, Van Hunt, while Aubry arrived separately. Nahla’s graduation photos, however, remained a secret.
Nahla's path to this moment has been far different from that of many celebrity children. Born in Los Angeles on March 16, 2008, during Berry and Aubry's relationship, she spent much of her childhood shielded from constant media exposure.
Berry was one of the most vocal advocates for stronger protections against aggressive paparazzi photography involving children, helping push for stricter anti-harassment measures in California. Those efforts allowed Nahla to grow up largely outside the spotlight despite her mother's global fame.
Her childhood, however, unfolded against the backdrop of highly publicized legal battles. After Berry and Aubry split in 2010, the former couple spent years navigating custody disputes before reaching a joint custody arrangement.
In 2014, a Los Angeles court ordered Berry to pay Aubry $16,000 per month in child support, a figure that was later reduced to $8,000 monthly in 2021. The legal proceedings kept the family in headlines for years, even as both parents continued to share responsibility for raising their daughter.
Nahla's family expanded in 2013 when Berry welcomed son Maceo-Robert Martinez with then-husband Olivier Martinez. Berry's co-parenting journey later extended into another legal dispute involving Martinez.
Despite those challenges, Berry has frequently highlighted her pride in her children. Last year, she revealed that Nahla had already secured a college acceptance, setting the stage for the milestone celebrated this week.
