After nearly a decade of updates, expansions, and increasingly deep dives into Dragon Ball history, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is finally heading toward its last major chapter.
According to the Anime News Network, during the Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour event in Los Angeles, Bandai Namco confirmed that “FUTURE SAGA Chapter 4” will arrive this summer as the final piece of DLC for the long-running game.
The announcement closes out a content run that has kept Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 alive since its original 2016 release. While Bandai Namco did not reveal an exact launch date, the publisher made it clear that Chapter 4 will serve as the conclusion to the “Future Saga” storyline that began in 2024.
The reveal came alongside another major surprise: the company’s mysterious “Age 1000” project is actually Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3, which is set to launch in 2027.
That means Dragon Ball Xenoverse fans are effectively getting both an ending and a new beginning at the same time. Since launching on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in 2016, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 has quietly become one of Bandai Namco’s most durable games.
The title has sold more than 10 million copies worldwide and expanded far beyond its original story through years of DLC, free updates, and next-gen re-releases on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
“FUTURE SAGA Chapter 4” follows three previous installments that steadily escalated the stakes. Chapter 1 introduced Broly (Restrained), alongside new story arcs built around Vegeta, Goku Black, and alternate versions of familiar heroes. Chapter 2 added Jiren in his Full Power Ultra Supervillain form, God of Destruction Belmod, and Goku (Mini), while Chapter 3 brought in Dragon Ball Super’s Broly and Golden Frieza in his Ultra Supervillain form.
Those additions continued a formula that has defined Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 for years: mixing fan-favorite characters with alternate timelines, what-if scenarios, and increasingly chaotic versions of classic villains.
The game’s entire premise is built around rewriting Dragon Ball history. Players create their own Time Patroller and travel across major arcs from Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball Super, GT, and the films.
That approach has helped the game survive far longer than most anime tie-ins. Over the years, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 has added everything from Ultra Instinct Goku and Beast Gohan to characters pulled from Dragon Ball DAIMA.
A separate DAIMA pack released in May added Super Saiyan 4 Goku and Super Saiyan 3 Vegeta from the new anime, along with new costumes inspired by Glorio and Panzy.
Bandai Namco has not yet revealed which characters or missions will appear in “FUTURE SAGA Chapter 4.”
