Deon Derrico is facing legal battles on multiple fronts. Just days after publicly addressing the criminal case involving his ex-wife, Karen Derrico, the Doubling Down with the Derricos star has filed a new lawsuit against a former business partner over a disputed real estate investment.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, the TLC reality star is asking a judge to stop business partner Tyrone Sprewell from selling a home the two allegedly co-own. Deon claims he independently owns a 25% stake in the property and argues that any sale should require his approval until ownership issues are resolved. He contends that allowing the transaction to proceed before the dispute is settled could cause him “irreparable” harm and seeks an order blocking the sale while the case proceeds.
The latest lawsuit comes as Deon has also broken his silence about the criminal case involving Karen. Speaking with Us Weekly, the father of 15 made clear that his concern extends beyond the legal proceedings and toward the impact on their children.
"I still love her as the mother of my children. But I do not like her at all. I don't like what she's done," Deon said. "I don't like how the children are involved, they're in the middle of it, and I'm forced to defend my position."
Deon also described what he says led him to seek court protection earlier this year. He told Us Weekly that Karen's emails "kept getting more and more aggressive" and claimed, "She had done threatening things to me and things that made me question my life."
He added that he had even warned his own mother to "look at Karen" if anything happened to him because of what he described as "the level of anger and hatred" he believed she was directing toward him.
Despite the ongoing dispute, Deon emphasized that his focus remains on their children. "I still have to maintain the presence of mind for my innocent children, 'cause no matter what, they're innocent," he said. "When they're fighting within, no one wins. No one wins."
Karen was arrested in Las Vegas and charged with harassment, aggravated stalking, violating a restraining order, and preventing a witness from testifying through threats of violence. Prosecutors allege she sent emails threatening to kill Deon and "any of the kids" who sided with him during their divorce.
Karen has pleaded not guilty, and her attorney, Jess Marchese, has denied the allegations, arguing that Deon fabricated the emails and enlisted technology experts to prove they were not authentic. Karen was released on a $2,000 bond and ordered to wear an ankle monitor while the case moves forward.
The former couple's split has unfolded publicly since their 2024 divorce ended both their marriage and Doubling Down with the Derricos, which chronicled the challenges of raising their 15 children.
