Dwight Howard’s ongoing divorce drama has taken another turn, with his estranged wife Amber Howard—also known as Amy Luciani—claiming he shut down a lucrative television opportunity that could have earned her a seven-figure payday.
According to TMZ, the allegation surfaced in newly obtained police body camera footage, where Amber is seen speaking with responding officers following a domestic dispute.
In the footage, she claims the former NBA star abruptly canceled a reality TV project the couple had secured together, which she says would have paid each of them $1 million. According to her account, the deal fell apart after Dwight allegedly contacted producers directly to pull out of the project without her consent.
Amber also told officers that she has become financially dependent on Dwight during their relationship, claiming he discouraged her from continuing her previous television work.
When asked whether she had savings set aside, she responded, “I don’t yet.”
In the footage, Amber also claims the canceled show marked a turning point. She alleged Dwight sent an email to the production team withdrawing from the deal, effectively ending it.
However, sources close to Howard have pushed back on that account, stating that no viable deal was intentionally scrapped and disputing claims that he controlled her finances.
The footage was recorded shortly after she called police, alleging Dwight had locked her out of their home during an argument, while he reportedly told officers she had gone “berserk.”
Howard, an eight-time NBA All-Star and 2020 champion with the Los Angeles Lakers, has remained a high-profile figure both on and off the court. Amber, who previously appeared on Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta, had maintained a public-facing career in entertainment prior to their marriage.
The latest claims arrive just days after Dwight Howard formally filed for divorce, describing the marriage as “irretrievably broken.”
According to Sporting News, the filing followed a series of public accusations made by Amber, including a viral video in which she alleged Child Protective Services had intervened at their home.
