Almost 13 years after the release of Grand Theft Auto V, Rockstar Games is finally unveiling more details about Grand Theft Auto VI.
Rockstar Games confirmed that the latest Grand Theft Auto game was in development in February 2022, and finally officially announced it in late 2023 with a record-breaking debut trailer. Set to follow the story of Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, the first playable woman character in the history of the series, in the fictitious U.S. state of Leonida, GTA VI is scheduled to hit PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles on November 19, 2026.
With the release just months away, Rockstar Games is astutely aware they’ve got the most anticipated video game of all time on their hands. In a post shared on social media, Rockstar unveiled the artwork for the sequel, which is the eighth main game in the series, and let fans know when they can secure a pre-order.
We’ve finally got a look at the GTA VI cover art:
The box art for Grand Theft Auto VI was shared by Rockstar Games on social media platforms on Thursday (June 18), showing the colorful pop-art style fans have come to expect from the series’ artwork. The cover features the protagonists alongside depictions of a helicopter, luxury cars, motorbikes, and an alligator and flamingo. It’s an indication that we’ll be seeing plenty of different forms of transport in the game, and also lots of wildlife, something that Rockstar famously implemented in its critically acclaimed 2018 open-world western, Red Dead Redemption 2.
When do the GTA VI pre-orders open?
Pre-orders for GTA VI will officially open on June 25 at select retailers and digital storefronts. The announcement of impending pre-orders will undoubtedly offer reassurance that the game could still hit its scheduled November release date, following two delays
What is GTA VI rated?
At the time of publication (June 18), the game has yet to receive a rating from the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB), but it is expected to receive an M for Mature (17+) rating. It’s similarly not yet received a rating from Europe’s Pan European Game Information (PEGI), but will most certainly receive an 18+ rating.
How much will GTA VI cost?
Pricing for the latest Grand Theft Auto isn’t expected to be unveiled until pre-orders go live next week. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series games typically retail for $69.99, however.
