Streamer Yonna Jay Reacts to Drake Sampling Her on ‘Iceman’: ‘I Spoke It Into Existence'

Streamer Yonna Jay says she couldn't believe she was featured on Drake's new album Iceman after a viral livestream clip with fellow streamer BenDaDonnn unexpectedly made its way onto the project.

One of the album's surprising moments came on the outro of “Plot Twist,” where audio from a Twitch stream featuring Yonna and BenDaDonnn was sampled. In the clip, Yonna asks Ben whether he is part of Drake's “best friend's group” after noticing he was wearing an OVO owl chain.

During a recent stream, Yonna admitted she was shocked when she first heard her voice on the album.

“Last night, when I heard my voice on a Drake album, I said, 'What the fucking- [sound effect]?'" the 19-year-old recalled.

Yonna explained that before learning she would actually appear on the album, she jokingly claimed during an earlier stream that she was already on it.

"I remember when I was on stream and I said I was like, 'Oh my god, like I'm on the Iceman album!’ At that time, I wasn't. I'm not kidding, I literally spoke it into existence because the day after that I got a call," she said. ''Oh, you know we on the album?' I said, 'Wait. Huh?' I said 'What? No!'"

Yonna added that the clip where she claimed to be on Iceman had only gained traction within a smaller online audience before eventually reaching Drake's camp.

According to Yonna, she originally made the comment as a joke. That made the final outcome even more surreal for her.

"And then the next day? Y'all the fact that I was on there. Give a round of applause," she said.

Yonna also addressed criticism she expects to receive online from people downplaying the feature because it appeared on an outro.

She said, “And I already know, guys: there are gonna to be people out there, they're gonna see me happy. It's probably gonna be posted on TikTok or wherever it's posted and people are gonna say, 'Oh, well, it was just an outro. Like, the song wasn't even that good. The album was not that good. Like, why the fuck is y'all on the album?’”

"This proves that people are very mad with themselves,” she concluded.
