Teyana Taylor has always held her collaborators near and dear, and as her star continues to rise, her M.O. remains the same.

Last year, Taylor — who’s dominated the R&B charts over the past decade — had an exciting run in film and television. She appeared in Ryan Murphy’s legal drama All’s Fair — alongside Kim Kardashian, Glenn Close, Sarah Paulson, and Niecy Nash-Betts — as well as Tyler Perry’s Straw and Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another. The lattermost won Best Picture at the Critics Choice Awards on Sunday, January 4, where Anderson also won Best Director.

In a clip taken from the broadcast, Taylor is seen cheering Anderson on very enthusiastically and hugging him on his way up to the podium. Since the broadcast, this clip has gone viral on social media.

“find someone who roots for you the way Teyana Taylor roots for Paul Thomas Anderson,” wrote BuzzFeed’s Spencer Althouse on X (formerly Twitter). "I love her reaction after he won Best Director at the Critics' Choice Awards.”

Much of the replies were in agreement with the sentiment, and Taylor herself caught wind of the comment.

“Period! Lol,” wrote Taylor, with several laughing emojis. “One thing ima doooooooo is show up and show out for my people!.”

And these aren’t just words. Taylor has often given her collaborators their flowers. On her latest album, Escape Room, she features narrations from her All’s Fair co-stars Paulson and Nash. The album also contains a narration from her Straw co-star Taraji P. Henson.

Taylor herself is currently nominated for the Best Supporting Actress — Motion Picture award at the upcoming 2026 Golden Globes, which are set to broadcast on Sunday, January 11. Should she win, let’s hope Anderson returns her spirited energy.
