Tracee Ellis Ross is combatting a viral rumor that she was expecting her first child after receiving congratulatory texts.
The actress, who begins her 40-performance run in Broadway play Every Brilliant Thing next month, discussed the pregnancy allegations on the Tuesday (June 23) episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
The rumor appears to stem from a fake post that showed Ross displaying a positive pregnancy test.
"I kept getting texts, and people were like, 'Congratulations.' I'm like, 'On the play? Thank you!'" the former Black-ish star told Fallon. "Well, apparently, it's swirling around, and it seems that people think I'm pregnant. Which is hilarious. I am not pregnant."
Ross joked that she doesn’t know how someone can “get the preggers” before saying it was a “slow news day” for those that ran with the rumors.
The 53-year-old also laughed off the allegation in an Instagram Story this week and denied that she was trying for a baby. Ross, who’s single to public knowledge, has repeatedly spoken on her refusal to settle in a relationship, including during her 2025 visit to podcast Aspire with Emma Grede.
“I mean, don't get me wrong. I would love a partner, and I've had some wonderful dating … and some wonderful relationships. So, it's not that. I just haven't found the person that is my life partner yet,” the entertainer said.
