Method Man has never been one to hold his tongue, and his latest comments about the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame prove this to still be the case.
Wu-Tang Clan, the legendary rap group that helped launch Meth's career, are one of the acts nominated to be inducted as part of the 2026 Rock Hall class. Other names in the running include: Lauryn Hill, New Edition, Pink, Shakira, Luther Vandross, Phil Collins, Sade, Jeff Buckley, Mariah Carey, Oasis, and more.
On Friday (April 3), the Ticallian Stallion took to Instagram to call out the use of bots in the voting process, while sharing a screenshot of the current fan vote results, which places Wu-Tang just outside of the top seven qualifying spots with 598,106 votes.
“Although it's very cool to be nominated for the rock 'n' roll Hall of Fame, what isn’t cool are bots getting involved in the voting," he wrote. "It's not fair to the nominees or the legit voters.. with that being said congrats to all the nominees and good luck!"
His post, soundtracked by Gerhard Heinz's "Cheater's Theme," garnered a huge response from fans, who shared their thoughts in the comments section, with many of them highlighting how quickly Shakira reportedly jumped from lower on the leaderboard to Top 5.
"It is crazy cuz Shakira was way down then automatically jumped up a few dayz ago smh. Good ting this ain’t the only criteria for yaLL to get in but stiLL it’s #WuTangForever 🐝👐🏾🐝👐🏾🐝👐🏾🐝," one fan wrote, while another added: "Shakira came outta nowhere...🤔"
A couple of other fans commented on New Edition being in the number one spot, outscoring the rest of the pack by a large number of votes.
"No Way New Edition is winning by that much! Also Pink??? No hating, but something is off," one person wrote, before a second came to the R&B group's defense. "New Edition is for certain! We are hardcore fans! We aren’t bots!"
It's worth noting that the results of the fan ballot doesn't decide who gets inducted. Since 2012, fans have been given the chance to vote for the nominees they’d like to see inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The top five to seven vote-getters in the annual online fan vote form one ballot. Which means the other five to seven inductees are decided by a voting committee.
One fan in Meth's comments made this point while also calling out the Wu-Tang rhymer for his post. "The fan votes are not the final say anyways," they wrote. "There’s a comitee [sic] if voters that have the final say. I think the WU are 100% getting in. Don’t start blaming bots, that’s corny."
At time of publishing, Wu-Tang Clan still sit at number seven in the fan vote standings with 601,968 votes, just 13,000 votes shy of the sixth spot, currently held by Billy Idol. You can cast your votes here.
