T.I. with the fade is back, and he’s releasing new music with Pharrell Williams.
T.I. dropped the track “Let Em Know,” produced by Skateboard P, on Jan. 18. The track arrived just hours after he’d announced that he’d cut the dreadlocks off his head that he’s had for years. Now, he looks like the T.I. of the mid 2000s.
Listen to the track below.
“Let Em Know” will appear on T.I.'s upcoming project, Kill The King that he first announced back in 2021. At the time, T.I. claimed that it would be his final album.
In 2023, T.I. explained what Kill the King’s title means.
“I feel like the King of the South moniker is very egotistical, self-gratuitous, and it’s a persona that kind of enters the room before I do physically,” he said. “Big Boi cautioned me of [the title] back when I was coming onto the scene. Big Boi said, ‘It sounds cool. I like it. But understand when you are the king, you put a big bullseye on your back.’”
“You can’t look for no favors,” he continued. “Life is a game of chess, and the name of the game is called Kill the King. That's what you're setting yourself up for."
In December, T.I. joked about going bald after a man who resembled him went viral for having just a scalp under his dreads. During an appearance on Yung Joc & The Streetz Morning Takeover radio show, T.I. clarified that he wasn’t the man in a TikTok who was standing on stage with a balding crown.
“The Devil is a lie,” said, adding that he “went to the mirror” after seeing it. "It's comedy. I laughed. It wouldn't be funny if it were true. ... I ain't even respond to it, I just took my hat off and walked around."
In other news, T.I. recently denied that Lil Wayne ever influenced him while speaking with D.J. Whoo Kid. "We do push each other," he said. "When I hear him do something dope, I say, okay, let me go do something doper. I think that’s what it takes to evolve and set the game on another level."
