Kid Cudi has announced that he has moved into yet another art form: standup comedy.

Cudi shared pictures from his first-ever standup set on Instagram, followed by a long post explaining how it feels to be on stage telling jokes.

“Sooo this happened!!! Did stand up last night for the first time and holy fuck it was ELECTRIC!!!” wrote Cudi. “Hearing people laughing their asses off and enjoying my set really touched my heart man 🥹 I was maaaaad nervous, this was another type of nervousness I hadn't felt before.”

“The high I felt when I got off stage, never felt that before either,” he continued. “I wanna say to everyone that showed love, all my friends that showed up and all the other comics on the bill that supported me and were rooting for me, THANK U SO FUCKIN MUCH!!! “

The show took place on Friday (Jan. 9) at Mi’s Westside Comedy Theater in Santa Monica. Cudi thanked his Happy Gilmore 2 cast mate, comedian and writer Joseph Vecsey, for setting up the gig and helping him "get my set together." After the show, Vecsey took to social media to say that Cudi "killed it."

Cudi let curious fans know that he’ll be sharing clips from his set so they can hear his jokes.

Check out his recap post below.

Cudi is only the latest rapper to try his hand at comedy. Prior to him, T.I. hopped on the stage to tell jokes, and has spent the last few years honing his skills. One of T.I.’s recent sets during the Cheaper Than Therapy comedy special shows that the rap legend doesn't kill every time out.

In the now viral clip of T.I. attempting to make a joke about Young Thug, the extremely quiet audience made it clear that the rapper bombed on stage.

“That man was fighting a RICO! I’m sorry, white people — Young Thug is a rapper, he’s from Cleveland Avenue. His name don’t sound like much but he’s held in high regard within the community. He’s a national treasure. Yes, responsible for many Negro Spirituals,” T.I. explained to near-silence.

Aside from comedy, Cudi — who said last September that he had to “step into the shadows” for his music career to “focus on my other dreams" — just announced his debut art exhibition in Paris under the name Scotty Ramon. The exhibition will run from January 31 through March 1 and will include 10 original works and an exclusive soundscape.
