J. Cole Declares Lionel Messi 'the G.O.A.T.' on New Mike WiLL Made-It Track, "OFG!"

The North Carolina rapper also revealed that he only just started watching soccer.

J. Cole has shown some love to Lionel Messi, declaring him "the G.O.A.T." on new Mike WiLL Made-It song "OFG!" — listen to it above.

On the track, taken from Mike WiLL’s newly released R3SET album, Cole brings up the legendary soccer player while also revealing he only just started watching soccer.

"Shoutout to Lionel Messi, he's the G.O.A.T. / Only started watching weeks ago/ Why they never told me soccer was lit / Thought it was only for crackers and shit,” Cole raps on the track.

Elsewhere on the same track, Cole discusses "sympathy Grammy" awards, seemingly throwing subliminal shots at someone in particular. "Fuck them lil' sympathy Grammys," he spits, before explaining that he’d rather not receive one and instead return it to someone else who’s never won one.

J. Cole’s new verse comes a little over a week after he shared what he would be doing after completing his "Trunk Sale Tour."

The rapper shared a blog post on his Inevitable website, reflecting on having just finished his back-to-basics tour where he sold his latest album The Fall-Off from the trunk of his car.

"I was exhausted after leaving LA on that last stop, it had me thinking about this tour coming up… 6 months long!!," he wrote. "Sheeeeeeeeesh!! I’m excited though. We haven’t done an international run since 4 Your Eyez Only. Fatherhood made me not want to be away from the house for that long of a time, but for this album it’s a must that I thug it and hit the world up."

"My intention was to drop this album and let it sit for at least a month before I did any interviews. I wanted to give people a chance to feel whatever emotions the music brought them, and formulate their own thoughts, ideas, opinions or interpretations before I came out and gave mine," he added. "Now, I feel like it’s a good time to step out my comfort zone (home) and go and do some interviews. There’s a lot of platforms out there that I fuck with, both big and small, and I look forward to showing up, showing love while continuing to push this album that I gave so much to."

One of those interviews, a chat with Nadeska Alexis for Apple Music, has now gone live. You can check it out here.

In July, Cole will embark on a world tour for The Fall-Off. The 73-date run of shows will wrap up in December, with stops all over North America, Europe, Australia, and South Africa.
