The mic was on tonight for the B2K and Pretty Ricky Verzuz, with the latter’s Pleasure P requesting that Omarion perform without a backing track.
After the groups traded off hits like “Uh Huh,” “Your Body,” and “What A Girl Wants,” Pleasure P got into a slight war of words with B2K about their respective singing abilities, singling out Omarion.
“Sing right now,” Pleasure P demanded, showing off his own vocal chops. Omarion, instead of reciprocating, repeatedly asked, “What do you want to do P?” before launching into another song.
Minutes later, Pleasure P once again issued a challenge to Omarion, this time asking him to perform “Why I Love You” without a backing track. This time, he accepted the challenge.
The intense Verzuz event, dubbed the "Duel of the Boy Bands,” kicked off at 6:30 p.m. PT / 9:30 p.m. ET in Los Angeles.
The hyped-up match was preceded on both sides by band members declaring that they were ready for all of the musical smoke.
Raz-B posted a pre-battle message on Instagram earlier this month, writing, “If any of y’all get out of line, I got something for every last one of y’all — and I mean that with love and respect.”
In an interview with Complex, Pleasure P made it clear that he was out to compete in the Verzuz event. “I’m for what this is about,” he said. “Who’s the better group. Who’s got the most hits. I want all the smoke with Omarion. I sound just like my records. I did not come to play.”
