Pretty Ricky
Pretty Ricky is an R&B group from Miami, Florida, formed in 1998 and originally consisting of brothers Spectacular Smith, Diamond "Baby Blue" Smith, and their cousin Corey "Slick 'Em" Mathis, alongside Marcus Cooper, known as Pleasure P. Signed to Atlantic Records, the group debuted in May 2005 with Bluestars, a platinum album that introduced their signature blend of raunchy Miami bass, slow-jam R&B, and hip-hop swagger to a mainstream audience. The single "Grind With Me" became their defining record — a slow, explicit come-on that landed on radio and BET simultaneously and established the group as one of the more unapologetically provocative acts of the mid-2000s R&B era. Their run through the late 2000s produced two more albums — Late Night Special (2007) and Spectacular Fantastic (2009) — before internal tensions and Pleasure P's departure for a solo career slowed the group's momentum. Pretty Ricky has since become a reliable nostalgia draw, with their catalog finding renewed life through social media and the early 2000s R&B revival.
